Granada - Me Time

So honestly the last two mornings have sucked a bit, well the drop off at school anyway....It's been a week, Sam knows what to expect now, he's been home-schooled the last 1.5 years, he's had a lot of freedom and parent time built into his day and now he's back in the rigamarole of a full time school day away....and he's a home body too. Monday morning brought tears (his, but nearly mine), Tuesday morning was a little better, mostly just him giving me an ultimatum, "Mom, either you stay at school today, or tomorrow, which is it?" (this choice of two options sounded very familiar!).  Then I reminded him he can get hugs from his teacher too when he's sad or needs help and she will help him....we found her and transitioned his death grip from me to her.  It went rather smooth after that...meaning I made a clean escape. We'll see how tomorrow goes.

My mother pointed out today that I haven't said much about what I do with my time while Sam is at school.
I like lists, so here's a list....

  • Got a back massage
  • Go out to lunch (bc Sam is a home body and rarely likes to eat out with me and I can only take so much of my own cooking)
  • Buy school supplies at Gon Per (an office/school supply store that is really big and I only discovered after searching the market for different supplies and after asking for Sharpie markers they all kept saying Gon Per, Gon Per..and finally I figured out I'd walked by it like 10 times in the past week). Businesses do not have obvious markings here.
  • Check email
  • Cut out things at school for the upcoming Valentines dance
  • Read
  • Yesterday I got a hand and foot massage and then sat by the pool at the spa where it was (gratis for the day once I'd purchased a service there....Yes!)
  • Inquired at Spanish Schools about teachers, prices and quantities (I've had no classes yet)
  • Shopped at the grocery (see that previous item about the kid who doesn't like to eat out...unless it's ice cream)
  • Cook, do laundry, hang clothes on the line, do the dishes
  • Check email, write emails, send video texts, chat, write (obviously)
  • Wander through parts of town where I haven't been
  • Today I called another parent to make a coffee date and now have plans for tomorrow....here's to more of that

The Chocolate Spa Pool

Lunch Yesterday....beautiful and oh so good.

And now for some contrast (It's not always picture perfect here).... I've finally figured out why wealthier families have daily house keepers....really...daily. A concept I just couldn't grasp before. Here's what happened 10 minutes later to the Honey Nut Cheerio Sam dropped on the floor of our room.
